REVERSE : Large oak tree, representing England, sheltering three young oak trees, representing the three counties on the island. Also showing the denomination.

*** The 1871 one cent coin is the only one issued by Prince Edward Island as a province. Indeed, as it joined the Canadian confederation in 1873. It is the only denomination and year they ever made a coin. It would be a nice addition to any coin collection simply for that historical fact. ***
